Unearthed artefacts in Laos promise to be huge draw for tourists

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The recent unearthing of a mine in Savannakhet province’s Vilabouly district promises to be an attractive site for tourists and will hopefully generate more income for the local community.

Officials from both government and private sectors expressed hope in their address at the handing over ceremony of the unearthed artefacts on Tuesday between Lane Xang Minerals Ltd LXML and the Lao government.

A team of archaeologists found evidence of more than 200 antique mine shafts at the Sepon mining project site last March, which experts said dated from over 3,000 years ago.
